Some users are annoyed not by the notifications themselves, but by the sound that plays when they appear. In this article we will show you how to completely mute popup notifications in Windows 11 for all applications or just some of them.

  1. Go to Windows 11 Settings (press Windows + I on your keyboard).

How do I open Settings in Windows 11?

A few simple and memorable ways to navigate to the operating system settings.
  1. Go to "System".
  2. On the right side of the window, click on the "Notifications" option group.

  1. Click on the large "Notifications" button or on the down arrow. In the screenshot below, we marked the areas where you can click to expand the settings group.

  1. Uncheck the "Allow notifications to play sounds" option, as shown in the screenshot.

After that you will continue to receive notifications from the system and installed applications, only now they will come without sound.

How can I mute notifications for some applications?

  1. Go to the Settings > System > Notifications.
  2. Find the subsection "Notifications from apps and other senders".
  3. Tap on the application you want to mute notifications, or on the arrow that points to the right. In the screenshot below, we have marked the areas where you can click to expand the notification settings group for a particular app.

  1. Move the slider to the "Off" position for Play a sound when a notification arrives.

  1. Repeat the above steps for other applications.

After that, you will only receive sound notifications from your favorite apps.
